The Desert Home Educators Association (DHEA) began when two military families (USMC and USAF), new to Edwards Air Force Base, discovered there was a need for an official home educator’s group aboard the base. With the assistance of Edwards AFB Service’s Squadron, they were able to create a charter and gain base approval for the group to function on base as a non-profit organization under AFI 34-223.
